Driving Directions

From New York City, take I-495 E to exit 31S for Cross Island Pkwy. S, then take exit 25A on the left for Southern State Pkwy. E toward Eastern Long Island. Continue 5.2 miles to exit 19S for Peninsula Blvd. S. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Peninsula Blvd., then turn right onto S Franklin St. in 1.2 miles. Continue 0.3 miles to turn left on Fulton Ave. at the corner with the Chase Bank; we are in the first building on your right, across from Game Stop and Chuck E. Cheese’s.

From eastern Long Island, take Southern State Pkwy. west to exit 21 for Nassau Rd. toward Hempstead/Freeport. Turn right onto Nassau Rd. and continue straight onto Greenwich St., then turn left onto Front St. at the corner with Bank of America. Take your second right onto N Franklin St., then take your second left onto Fulton Ave. to find Long Island Beauty School immediately on your right.

Hempstead was first settled by Europeans in 1644 as part of New Amsterdam, which later became New York. The settlement’s primarily Dutch population called the area Heemstede. Hempstead was split in two during the American Revolution, after which it became part of Queens Borough.
